Common questions
Where do the facts come from? Every fact in a brand's file carries a source link to public reporting, regulator filings, or the company's own statements. Records are compiled automatically and may contain errors — the sources are there so you can check.
Why does my score differ from a friend's? Records are identical for everyone. Scores are personal: they apply your own weights, set on your device, to the same facts.
A brand I searched shows "no file exists." Open one — first-time research takes about two minutes and the file is then available to everyone.
A barcode won't scan or resolve. Not every product code is in the public barcode registers we reach. Search the brand by name instead.
How do I change my values? Your weights are set during onboarding. Delete and reinstall the app to redo them (a settings screen is coming).
Records & corrections policy
Ethos records what companies do, from cited sources, in neutral language. It takes no position on the values you choose. If a record is wrong, tell us — corrections are our highest-priority queue, and a disputed record can be withdrawn while we re-verify.
